Greater Galangal (Alpinia galanga) is a robust plant that grows to a height of about 5 feet. Its leaves are long, narrow blades, and the flowers have a unique formation, growing in a simple terminal spike. The petals are white with deep-red veining on the lip-petal. The rhizome pieces are typically 3.5-7.5 cm in length and seldom more than 2 cm thick.
