About Maampattai (Mango Bark)
The mango tree is an evergreen, erect tree that grows up to 20-45 meters in height, with an oval, upright, dome-shaped crown and stout trunk. The tree is long-lived, known to produce fruits for 250-300 years. The leaves are linear-oblong, lanceolate-elliptical, pointed at both ends, and arranged on branches in a spiral pattern, emitting a soothing aroma. The tree bears red, yellow, and green flowers in panicles, with around 3000 flowers. The fruit is a large drupe, varying in shape and size, with yellowish-green ripened fruits containing thick yellow pulp and a single oblong seed covered by a hard shell.
