About Karuppu Kungiliyum (Black Dhup):
Black dammar is found in moist deciduous to semi-evergreen forests in the Western Ghats, up to an altitude of 1400 meters. The tree can grow up to 40 meters tall. Leaves are bipinnate, oppositely arranged, and 5 inches in length and 2-2.5 inches wide. Young leaves are reddish-brown, turning green as they age, and are scaly and thick. The tree produces a brownish secretion called Kungiliyam.
